The Garden of History

“The Garden of History” is title of Bita Vakili’s latest exhibition, which, with a kind of contemporary visual language, has reached an expression beyond the boundaries of bio-artist, and meaningful forms and sometimes unstable figures emerge from abstraction of the canvas.

According to Artmag, Bita Vakili, with a new approach and after five years, will view her latest collection of paintings on the evening of the first Friday of February at E1 Art Gallery. The Garden of History is a display of 16 paintings of different sizes that have been formed in the last two years.

Vakili’s works, along with a kind of contemporary visual language, have reached an expression beyond the boundaries of the artist’s life, and also her recent successes in domestic and foreign markets promise birth of a new current in contemporary Iranian visual expression. This seems to be just the beginning of a path for which perhaps another end and result can be imagined.

Bita Vakili, a contemporary Iranian painter, after experimenting with abstract painting, has been creating works since the late 2001s, in which meaningful forms and sometimes unstable figures gradually emerge.

The fluidity of color in her work intensifies the explosive and glittering atmosphere of work. She emphasizes the physicality of the subject by using mixed colors, bright and thick, and usually adds to impact of her work by choosing large canvases. It seems that the balance obtained from the colored membrane and large dimensions of the work, ultimately facilitated the galactic and top-down view of such an effect.

Cities are what reflect the view of the contemporary era and situation well and place. Colorful and glazed cities that sometimes become epitome of American pop art with laudatory expression and at other times are challenged by various media in contemporary art.

Identity and ecological signs in this work express the manifestations of the artist’s creative motives in visual language.
