Photo contest of Iranian culture and ethnic groups in Tehran metro
The Deputy Minister of Cultural and Social Affairs of Tehran Metro Operation Company announced: The call for a photo contest and multimedia of Iranian ethnic groups and people has been published.
According to IRNA, Seyed Mojtaba Taghvinejad told reporters in this regard: Tehran Metro, as the largest intra-city transportation system, sees millions of passengers with cultural diversity from all over our country, which in fact witnesses the movement of a living cultural current in We are the underground city of Tehran and this is a suitable ground for introducing these customs by holding programs and holding cultural festivals and trying to protect and preserve them.
According to him, Metro Company, with the cooperation and participation of Tehran Municipality Communication and International Affairs Center, intends to hold a photo contest and multimedia culture of Iranian ethnic groups and people.
The director of the Iranian People and People Photo Contest Festival says about the goals and how to hold this contest: “Everywhere in the corners of this land has a culture and customs that bring attractions to its inhabitants. of course, these customs may be for People who enter it from afar also look much more attractive.
According to him, in fact, it can be said that the customs of any place are derived from its history and culture, which is undoubtedly one of the most important parts of any trip, communication with people who live in the direction or destination of your trip.
Taghvinejad continued: “The ability to communicate effectively with the people of that region can help you in various issues such as familiarity with the customs of that land, and also relying on this ability you will be able to meet different people during your trip and make good friends.
The Deputy Minister of Culture and Social Affairs of Tehran Metro Company emphasized: “Considering the presence of a wide and diverse range of different ethnicities and cultures in our country in Metro, we decided to use the appropriate capacity of metro cultural passages to introduce it to passengers and citizens.”
Referring to the implementation of cultural programs in this field, he added: “In the past, various programs have been held to introduce the culture and customs of our country, from holding photo and poster exhibitions to holding a festival of ethnic music entitled The Voice of My Land.” This time, we intend to introduce the culture and customs of our dear people from the perspective of travelers. For this purpose, with the participation of the Tehran Municipality Communication and International Affairs Center, we will hold a photo contest and multimedia of Iranian culture and people.
Taghvinejad pointed out: This competition is a good ground for creativity and those interested in the art of photography and multimedia works. In addition, we will have a valuable treasure trove of images and multimedia works for public display, which can be found through exhibitions and galleries. Photos are viewed by passengers and viewed through in-train screens and subway stations. Also, due to the presence of foreign tourists in the subway, we provide them with more familiarity with the relatives and customs of the people of our country.
Explaining how to hold and participate in the competition, Taghvinejad said: “Interested people can send their works through the address tehranpicturefestival.ir from 21 April to 1 July 2021, and also the works will be judged on July 6 and the closing ceremony, awards ceremony and opening of the exhibition will take place.” It will be held from 11 July to 21 July 2021.
Hassan Ghaffari, the secretary of the Photo Contest and Multimedia Festival of Iranian Ethnic and People’s Culture, also said: “Three months ago, in consultation with experts in the fields of anthropology, photography and social documentaries, the study program of this contest was conducted.” He added: “Many people use the subway as a safe, convenient and cheap means, and this is an opportunity to use the subway as a cultural and messaging space.”
According to Hassan Ghaffari, for this purpose, this competition will be held in two axes; The first is the general culture of the tribes, including nomadic, rural and urban social spaces, as well as clothing, food and customs, and the second axis is the presence of tribes in transportation systems such as airports, railways and especially subways with local coverage that represents the culture of their region.
Referring to the festival’s judging panel, he said: “The five-member judging panel consists of filmmaker, photographer, social documentary filmmaker and anthropologist, who will award valuable prizes to the top 10 works after judging and selecting the selected works.”
In the photo section, eight people without ranking the statue will be awarded an honorary diploma and a cash prize of 50 million Rials, and in the multimedia section, two people will be awarded a statuette, an honorary diploma and a cash prize of 60 million Rials. Also, two pioneers of photography who have presented outstanding works in the field of introducing the culture of our country’s tribes will be honored by awarding the festival badge.
