The Academy of Handicraft Awards has published a call for submissions for 6th International Handicraft Awards (ICA 2021) with aim of honoring artists in field of handiwork.

– Conditions of participation in the event
Minimum age and other conditions
Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Participation in this competition is open to all professional and amateur artisans and designers from any country.

The application form is available online, which you can download and send along with relevant information and images. Interested artisans/artists/designers can also apply for participation by emailing info@craftvillage.org.in. After receiving application, the competition participation form along with terms and conditions will be sent via email. In the confirmation email, you will be asked to send 3 photos of your work.
Photos must be as .jpg image files (about 1000 pixels). Photos must be of recent artist work created within last 3 years.
Note that the following costs are the responsibility of the individual/organization:
a) Transportation, insurance, visa and other related expenses.
b) Accommodation expenses and other expenses for participating in the ceremony of announcing the winners and prizes.
– Selection criteria
The selection is made by competent jury of the International Handicraft Awards to ensure highest level of creativity, originality, production technique and artistic quality considered for this purpose. Only nominated artists/designers can participate in International Handicraft Awards. The following criteria will be considered for selection:
Timely submission of requests and photos of works
Full submission of all required documents and eligibility criteria
Declaring the authenticity of the work to ensure that intellectual property is not stolen
Other documents/criteria as explained in the application form.
– Method of selecting winners
The competition consists of three selection stages:
Step 1- Filtration: pre-selection by internal jury
Step 2- Nomination: Selection of finalists by the international jury
Step 3: Presenting the prize to the finalist and the prize winner
– Right to use
Entrants whose works have been nominated for International Handicraft Award grant to “Handicraft Village” the right to publish their submitted images on the International Handicraft Award web page, the official Facebook page of the award, website, newsletters and media coverage in order to introduce the award winners.
The ICA International Handicraft Awards event was launched in 2017 to honor crafts, artisans, designers, individuals, institutions, councils, craft villages and related organizations for their outstanding contribution to the craft sector.
ICA sets a new benchmark in the world for the highest level of design excellence and craftsmanship. The event provides an open platform for makers working in various materials and media to have their work evaluated by a professional jury and international craft experts. These awards promote and encourage talent of the highest standards, making the International Craft Awards an annual global feature.
In the last five editions of the International Handicraft Awards, more than a thousand artists from more than 40 countries have been nominated to receive the awards. The award ceremony will be held during the Indian Crafts Week.
– Time schedule
The deadline for submitting works is August 15, 2022. Final judging will take place on September 15, 2022 and winners will be announced on October 15, 2022. Applicants can participate in 6th Craft Academy Awards by downloading and filling this form and sending it to info@craftvillage.org.in.
