Death of Hoshang Ebtehaj
Hoshang Ebtehaj, known as Sayeh(shadow), a famous Iranian poet and researcher, died at age of 94.
According to Artmag, Yalda Ebtehaj, daughter of Hoshang Ebtehaj, announced on her personal Instagram page on morning of Wednesday, August 10, 2022, that “our shadow met with seven thousand old people.”
At the end of July, he was hospitalized and receiving treatment in a hospital in Cologne, Germany, due to kidney failure.
Amir Hoshang Ebtehaj, was born on Sunday, February 26, 1928 in Rasht. His father, Aga Khan Ebtehaj, was one of famous men and for some time he was head of Porsina Hospital in this city. His grandfather, Ebrahim Ibtahaj al-Mulk, was from Gorgan and his grandmother was from Rasht.
Sayeh’s personal house has been registered with the Cultural Heritage Organization in 2008 under the name of Khaneh Arghavan. The reason for this name is presence of a famous purple tree in the yard of this house, for which he wrote his famous purple poem.
Mahmoud Shaloui, on behalf of Mohammad Mehdi Esmaili, Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, in a telephone call with Yalda Ebtehaj, the daughter of Amir Hoshang Ebtehaj, while conveying Dr. Esmaeili’s message of condolence to her, about the ministry’s readiness for any cooperation in transfer of late Hoshang Ebtehaj’s body reported to Iran and the burial of this contemporary poet in the homeland. In this regard, the assistant minister of culture said: “Sayeh is certainly one of honors of poetry and literature of our country, and now that we have lost him, it is a cause of regret and impression.” Shaloui further said: Since Master Sayeh was admitted to hospital, according to emphasis of Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, we have always inquired about his latest health status through Mrs. Yalda Ebtehaj.
Mohammad Allah Yari, Director General of Music Office of Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, published a message on the occasion of death of Amir Hoshang Ebtehaj and wrote: He had a high position in literature of Iran and his good name will remain forever. Unfortunately, another sun set in field of Persian language and this nest remained empty. Shadow, that existed in a piece of our life, left us alone with his songs and drew feathers so that world would remember another poet forever.
Seyyed Nezamoddin Mousavi, speaker and member of Presidency of Islamic Council, in a message on occasion of death of Amir Hoshang Ebtehaj, known as Shadow, described this late poet of country as haven of poetry and stated: “And what a pity that pure poetry has lost its purple shadow today.” gave It’s a pity that the shadow left Iran’s poetry… the shadow in which people of poetry and literature found peace. From the dawn of dawn in this country until today.
Alireza Ghorbani, a traditional music singer, also wrote on his personal page in cyberspace by publishing a song: Shadow, wait until it reaches your heart. That wish that is in your hopeful heart. Dear shadow, your green shadow will always spread over this land. Goodbye, eternal song…
Kayhan Kalhor, famous composer and musician of Kamanche, also wrote on his personal page in cyberspace: What hot things, what wounds, what pains, what we didn’t see, we also saw the shadowless summer
Hesamoddin Seraj, a traditional music singer, also published a video of Amir Hoshang Ebtehaj‘s poetry reading in a music concert with late Mohammad Reza Lotfi, a musician, composer and tar player, on his personal page in cyberspace and wrote: Sayeh Sayeh is gone from our head. I offer my condolences to his dear family, people of culture and art, and dear people of Iran on the passing away of dear teacher Ebtehaj Aziz.
Salar Aghili, a traditional music singer, also wrote after death of this veteran poet: I express my condolences to great man of Persian poetry and literature, Master Hoshang Ebtehaj, to all dear people of our country.
Mohammad Saleh-Ala, a poet and writer, wrote about death of Amir Hoshang Ebtehaj: Dear Mr. Ebtehaj, please don’t die, if you have decided to go to the beautiful world, please die slowly so that I have a chance to reach you.
