The pain and hearts of the creator of Karo Andisheh animation

Master Abolfazl Razani, a veteran animation director, although he considers his more than 50 years of work and activity in animation making to be convincing, he still believes that he has not made his best work. He emphasizes that Iran’s animation today needs a basic organization.

According to Artmag.ir, 75-year-old Abolfazl Razani Nezamol Olamaei, has been engaged in the field of animation production for more than half a century and has created lasting works. One of his most famous creations is The Work and Thought (Karo Andisheh) collection, which is considered a nostalgic work for the sixties.

Despite his years of work and teaching experience, This veteran artist, has not taught at the university for about 6 years, nor has he produced an animation, while he believes that he has not yet produced his best work and left it almost half-finished.

Some time ago, he received a first-class art certificate from Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, and on the same pretext, in an interview with ISNA, he spoke about his concerns for the organization of activists in the field of animation.

At the beginning of this interview, Razani said about the latest status of the movie Tiz Tan, which was supposed to be made in animation and real: This project has remained stagnant, because its conditions were very complicated and it needed a large budget. I first started this work with the Saba animation center and we were supposed to work as a partnership, but this company apparently faced a lack of funds and was not paid and the production of the project was abandoned.

He said: This work had a complicated process, and in order to write its text, I went through about three thousand Iranian stories to select all the lively moments of the stories to reach an adaptation line. Also, from a technical point of view, the work has special features that we couldn’t make it without a good budget.

Razani, has there been a negotiation with the Center for The Development of Documentary, Experimental and Animation Cinema, which is now in charge of creating animation projects? He said: The reality is that I no longer have the mood to make a film that I was pursuing about five years ago, and I don’t know if I can test myself to go for its production or not! Because I haven’t done anything for four or five years, and after the “Traditional Iranian Games” that I made for TV, I quit my job, and I haven’t been teaching for several years. I think it’s enough and for now I’m working on objects and films and archiving at home; Things I don’t know when will be useful.

He said about today’s working conditions in the field of animation compared to the past: the conditions have changed a lot and now the taste of the client has changed. In those days, there were not many artists working in animation and the number of people was very limited, but now our capacity in terms of manpower has improved and it is easier to work. The only drawback is the lack of organization of active personnel in the field of animation, that is, everything is very messy. For example, we want a person to do character design, we have to look around, find a person, take a test from him, then check this test to know that it is not a copy in the first place. We are facing problems in this field because a few years ago, in one of the festivals, one of the films was copied from a prominent foreign artist that the judges did not know and they gave him a prize, then it turned out that the owner of the work was another person anyway. These unethical and unprofessional actions do not reflect well.

This artist continued: In this regard, it is necessary that the activists of this field be organized, to create an organization with a database of people and consider salaries for them. In this case, we can hope that the conditions for work and production will improve; Because many colleagues worked without getting paid in these years and had no shelter to look for their wages. In addition, it is important that this organization is connected to the university.

In the end, Master Abolfazl Razani said: I am proud of the different things I have done in all these years, some of which have become nostalgic for people. When I was creating The Work and Thought (Karo Andisheh), the Iraq-Iran war had happened and we were working in a situation where even once the windows of our office were broken under the bombardment. In those days, it was only love and interest that caused the work to be done, but today, looking back on them, I think I would have liked to make other works that would be my best work. In fact, I still don’t think I have made my best work and I don’t think I will have the chance to do it again. Come. However, I am satisfied with my work, because I have done everything I could so far.
