Iranian photographer and Environmental Photography Award

Mehdi Mohebbipour, an Iranian photographer, won the 2022 Environmental Photographer Award for his picture of Bitter Death of Birds

According to Artmag.ir. pictures of the winner of 2022 environmental photographer award were published, and the overall winner of this competition, Mehdi Mohabbipour, was introduced with a photo of the bitter death of birds.

Mehdi Mohebbipour’s photo, Iranian photographer, with the theme: The bitter death of birds, taken in 2021, shows the birds that perished in Iran’s Miankala peninsula due to lack of water and pollution. In this photo, environmental workers are collecting animal carcasses to prevent the spread of disease.

This photo depicts only three birds out of thousands of birds that died in Iran’s Miankaleh peninsula wetland due to pollution and lack of water and shows the efforts of environmentalists to collect the bodies to prevent the spread of the disease. This photo was chosen as the winning photo because of its surreal depiction of the circular nature of life between humans and wildlife; As well as its powerful combination of conveying the real environmental issues affecting our planet, while using strong and contrasting colors to create a visually appealing picture.

Mehdi Mohebbipour, in response to winning this competition, said: “In the world, the winner of this award has been recognized, because photographing the weather and showing the damage is my biggest priority in life.” I want people all over the world to know about this tragic event of bird death, because if we don’t rethink our lifestyle and take care of the planet, it will soon happen in other countries.

The Environmental Photography Contest, is now in its 15th year and continues its mission to showcase some of the world’s most inspiring environmental photography.

The international jury received more than 3,000 images from almost 1,600 photographers.

117 different regions around the world participated in this competition with photographers from 7 to 90 years old.
