Theater

Eating bread of love also has a limit

Hadi Marzban, a veteran director and actor of theater, said: “The capable actors who work in theater today, if they are not supported by the government, will end up leaving stage tired and leaving;” Because eating bread of love also has a limit.

According to Artmag, Hadi Marzban, in an interview with IRNA cinema reporter and explaining his working conditions in current theater of Iran, said: “I am one of people who can be called full or resilient and I have always said that we have to We are to hope. Because if we do not hope, life will not continue.

He continued: “Hope has always been our support and I am personally one of those who have hoped in the worst situations.” Today, theater is not in a good condition, because everything is on one side and on the part of theatrical actors, and not on the mutual flow and mutual cooperation of the government and the actors.

Hadi Marzban said: “In countries that are at least 500 years ahead of us, theaters like ours, which are worth trouble, are performed with direct support of the government.”

Marzban referring to the support of the governments of the world about performance of national theaters: In London, where 500 theaters go on stage every night (a very large part and maybe 95% of them are not theaters and are shows that are held in form of tours to attract tourists and other issues and are reserved for 6 months) maybe something like 10 theaters There are currents based on writings of world’s great writers (Shakespeare, Miller, Epson, even Achilles and Sophocles); These are truly theaters and are performed at the National Theater in London with direct support of the government.

Hadi Marzban, referring to economic problems of theater activists, said: “Unfortunately, economic situation of theater activists in Iran is not favorable.” In the last few years, I have worked in two theaters that have received a lot of attention. In first theater, I sold my car so that I could pay the actors, and in the second theater, which was very good and popular, I think I have to sell my car again so that I can continue, because the government does not provide the support it should and perhaps should not.

Marzban noted: The main custodian of our work is government, and instead of economic conflicts, we should only think about our culture, work and society, what it needs today and what we should do.

He added: “I have always said that I personally do not seek lust for going on stage in theater, and we are too old, but I expect the government to help more.” Should the government determine whether it wants the theater or not?

Hadi Marzban, in response to question of what he knows the purpose of his work in theater in the current situation, explained: As soon as I say I am still. According to René Descartes who says I think I am; I owe it to my community to be able to give something to my audience if I see something as an artist.

Asked how he sees the new generation of actors and actresses in theater, he said: “Some are very good; Some who have come to theater with knowledge and love are very strong, and good faces can be seen in them, and others who have not been accepted elsewhere, are attached to field to do just that. And they have come from incurable, their task is clear.

He added: “I have high hopes for first category because future of our theater is in hands of these people.” Personally, I can finally work for another 10 years, and after that, it is the generation that must continue to work.

Marzban added: “This generation can shine a lot, but their number is not more than a few fingers, and if the government does not stop and does not keep these, they will also be wasted.” They also get tired because eating bread of love has a limit, and in such circumstances, these capable actors are attracted to various serials and telefilms, go and leave the stage; It seems that in our time, the best actors left the theater and they are proud to be in theater, but they are not willing to come once a year and experience stage and test themselves.

Master Hadi Marzban, in response to question what is theater in its simplest definition, said: Theater is something that can induce pain of society to its audience. This is basically my job, and if I consider myself an artist (if I am) when I look at society and believe that we are sharper and more understanding than others, I have to convey that understanding to the audience.

He added: “I have always said that if my theater is for two hours (it does not matter if the audience is entertained, laughs or cries), I will not forgive myself that spectator is not asked a few questions when he leaves the hall.” Or according to Eugène Ionesco, if he does not have a question, it should be asked after two hours and a reason should be formed in his mind.

He answered this question has emphasized why some theaters are so heavy that they make audience bored: this is our problem and we must know how to talk to the audience in such a way that you do not get bored; That viewer does not constantly look at the clock and say to himself, then when will this theater end? We have to shine indirectly during light show.
