Iranian cinema nominated for 7 Asia-Pacific awards

“A Hero”, along with the Japanese film “Drive My Car”, each with nominations in four categories, led the nominations for the 14th Asia Pacific Film Awards.

 According to ISNA, the list of nominees for the 14th Asia-Pacific Film Awards was announced, and Farhadi’s film “A Hero” won nominations in four categories: Best Film, Director, Screenplay, and Best Actor (Amir Jadidi).

The Japanese film “Drive My Car” directed by Ryusuke Hamaguchi, which was nominated for the Cannes Film Festival along with another film “A Hero”, has also been nominated in four categories: Best Film, Director, Screenplay and Best Actor in a Leading Role.

“There Is No Devil” directed by Mohammad Rasulov from Iran, “Knowing Nothing by Night” by Payal Kapadia from India and “Pencil” by Natalia Nazarova from Russia are also nominated for Best Film in this category.

Nasim Ahmadpour and Shahram Mokri are other representatives of Iranian cinema in the category of best screenplay for Asia-Pacific Awards for “Careless Crime” and Granaz Mousavi’s film “When Pomegranates Howl” is also in the category of best youth feature film with works from South Korea, Turkey and Japan. And a joint product of Iraq, the UAE and Saudi Arabia is competing.

Iranian and Japanese cinema each registered the highest number of nominations at this year’s Asia Pacific Awards with 7 nominations.

The closing ceremony of the 14th Asia-Pacific Film Awards will take place on November 11 in Australia.
