Seven Buildings in Tehran were Endorsed as National Heritage

At the meeting of the National Registration Committee of Historical Monuments of Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts, Tourism and Handicrafts, seven files prepared by a group of volunteers for the preparation of historical and contemporary works of Tehran were nationally registered and four files of historical monuments were approved in the list of valuable buildings.

Amir Hossein Rad, an architect and architectural researcher, referring to the continuous destruction of valuable buildings of contemporary architecture in Tehran, said: “About a year ago, a group of volunteers was formed with the help of professors of architecture and cultural heritage to pay more attention to this building.” One of the activities of this volunteer group is to cooperate with Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts to prepare registration files for buildings of valuable contemporary architecture in Tehran.

He, who is a member of the volunteer group for preparing national registration files, continued: “In total, we have prepared 18 files for which two registration sessions have been held.” In the first session, four files prepared by the volunteer group were nationally registered, and in the July 12 session, out of the 11 files we submitted, seven files were nationally registered and four other buildings were recognized as valuable.

This researcher of contemporary architecture in Tehran explained about the nationally registered buildings: Asian Cinema by Houshang Seyhoun, House on Keshavarz Boulevard by Paul Abkar, House on 30 Tir St. at the intersection of Saleh St, by Eugene (Eugene) Aftandilians, Kaveh Fund building in Topkhaneh Square, House Beethoven on Mirza Shirazi Street, Giv Elementary School, one of the leading Zoroastrian schools, and Al-Ghadir Mosque, designed by Seyyed Jahangir Mazloum Yazdi, prepared and compiled by this volunteer group, received national registration approval in this committee.

Rad emphasized: In this meeting, Dr. Entekhabi’s house and article named Khaneh Negar 14 by Nezam Ameri, Kamoneh and Khosravi architecture group, house belonging to Sarvarian family and Sarvarian kindergarten (Iran’s first kindergarten) and also Nahavandi house by Dariush Borbor was recommended as being eligible for National Heritage.
