He is a cartoonist, writer, novelist, and Iranian architect. He finished his middle school in Tehran. In september 1967, he was accepted at Shiraz University, engineering and electronics, and some time in Shiraz University to study electronics. Then, in 1970, he went to Tehran University and took a master’s degree in architectural engineering. He has graduated from architecture of Fine Arts, University of Tehran. At the University of Boston in Massachusetts, he spent research courses and completed his postgraduate studies in urban architecture with a master’s degree. Shahidi knew cartoons for a very serious job, and from fourteen years, with the orientation of Ardeshir Mohasses, he joined the new wave of Iranian caricature and published its designs in cultural and intellectual publications. He began his youth and from the year 1965 in the field of cartoons and black humor, and was renowned two years later with the publication of his works in Ebony magazines, the New World, the cluster, the information and the watch. His American trip was a standstill in his presence in the cartoon scene of Iran. After his return, he has always collaborated with publications such as The Kayhan Cosmos, collaborating that its scope in the last few years was Gol Agha Magazine, Golestane Magazine, and… Was also expanded. After the Islamic revolution, he was legal profession to his main architecture and after the year seventy, by the construction of individual exhibitions in the Seyhoun Gallery, Barg Gallery, third-party publishing, our new Art and cartoon House of Iran and published research papers in the Cosmos, published East and… , He raised himself again in the cartoon art stage. The main axis of his work was black humor, which he began in 1968 by printing the presence of death and has ever continued. He has not been so moderate with other cartoon conferences in Iran, but has had serious cooperation with conferences and biennial.

The name of Davood Shahidi, along with names such as Ardeshir Mohasses and Kambiz Dermbkhsh, is from the pioneers of the Iranian cartoon, and in the years following the revolution that Iran’s cartoons were more limited to the realm of humor, it was among the few who were in Iran, from art view to cartoons. In the past few years, a black space with a crosshatches was eerie, but in the recent year a more abstract method of color is used as a sub element. In his own design, he Caricature and works out of his own conventional frameworks.

The new trend of Shahidi is the work of his children who, with the presence of a little blue imaginary character, Peporba and Prof. Dal Shin (perhaps the name of Davood Shahidi) to teach children cartoons. Also, the latest exhibition of Shahidi can be caricatures to the fair and dressing expo.

Some of His Views
– Caricature artists must learn from people and society and educate them as well.
– Caricature at the same time that an independent intellectual axis is based on theory, duplication, research and then reach a personal insight, but should not be far from the public. Because the benefit of the art of the codec is when it is able to communicate with people’s masses and to be a culture.

– Caricature was formed with the modern world and was able to turn into an independent art. Pointing to the characteristics of this art said: Caricature should be able to communicate with people. But it should not be in such a way that it is a must and should not be the only personal insight of the artist.

– Caricature is an art that works with the cedar knowledge and should not be shoari artistic or to be limited by others.

– Caricature can be presented as a set of social concepts and subject to problems integration as corporations.

– Caricature Press in Iran is in a condition that can also act as a safety valve and sponsor the explosion. In general, two different flow of reforms and principlist have been influenced by the press cartoon in the country, and it is natural that in these situations, there are guarantees. If the work on this art is a function of the general laws of the country, it improves the political environment. I want caricature to be in the form of Law and convention, and if he wants to go to the threat, the excitement of the case, and the positive effect, to be a serious and negative chaos, it causes mental turmoil and a misunderstanding. I have always Caricature the art that the press can also act like a safety valve and a toggle-out explosion. Years ago, we had cartoons in the publication of Gol Agha, who was accompanied by people, and while he was doing so like a Melissa. The movement of cartoonist should be a mobility in this field.

– I have always believed in the importance of being a cartoonist. If cartoonist is hiring people who do not have much attention to the issue of culture and their goal is only to attract their own upstream opinion and rights, they cannot do their own mission and be diverted from the path. What helps us is to have positive knowledge, literacy and knowledge in the field of Caricature add and constructive debate. Blasting. Years ago, we had cartoons in the publication of Gol Agha, who was accompanied by people, and while he was doing so like a remedy. The movement of cartoonist should be a mobility in this field.

– Cultural policies in the ninth and tenth Governments in Iran for the sake of some encounters and facades, went to the side that the artists had expected. If government policies converge, and within itself, they have different ideas in a constructive and conscious way, naturally, they prevent seizures. As the general policy of the eleventh State is moderation, this moderation should be exercised in all cases of even Caricature.

– Shahidi on the release of the offensive cartoon in the French magazine and the subject of freedom of expression, said: The issue of freedom of expression, these days with different withdrawals, had different results. In my opinion, the Prophet has always been respected as the most powerful spiritual axis of the east which is named as the leader of the Eastern Renaissance and Islamic civilization. Scientists such as Sohrevardi, Ibn Sina and Ibn Roshd in their articles with various fields of literature, philosophy, astronomy, architecture, jurisprudence, chemistry, mathematics and music have pointed to this matter. Therefore, if you are insulting such a personality, it is arguably a matter of ignorance and ignorance, and if we naively a simple, biased and foolishly to deal with this issue, unconsciously, in a different way, will increase the complexity of the team and, rather than help and provide a solution. Are there any great philosophers that did not have religious and Islamic beliefs, insulting Islamic civilization and the character of the Prophet? They were always from the praised of Islamic civilization, the eastern Renaissance and the Prophet’s character. In this case, knowledge is decisive. We do not need to enter into discussions that are only vicious and do not contribute to the situation, and even foolishly to Islam. I see the answer to the problem that we can raise the level of discussion and let our scientists know and avoid narrow, limited and biased encounters.
