Biography
He has been interested in drawing since he was a child, and at the same age he started painting. He sold his first job at the age of 12 on Naderi Street, a tourist destination. He began his serious artistic career at the age of 15 and worked in publications such as Towfigh. In the years that followed, he expanded to include the New York Times, Der Spiegel, Nebel Spalter, and… Attendance at Point-of-Life magazine at an early age; In connection with the great artists of that period, such as Fereydoon Moshiri, Sohrab Sepehri, and to have 2 meetings and to stand up and surprise them with their activities in the field of cover design. When he graduated from Tehran Fine Arts Conservatory, he was a well-known artist in the field of design. “I had to work on political cartoons in Towfigh, a humorous political newspaper,” he said in an interview. He is one of the artists with style and his works are known without any signatures. He said: “The first criterion is the artist’s line and style, because line and routine and style are very important, and if someone doesn’t have it, his work will be wasted.” My work or that of others who are light-hearted is obvious, even if they don’t have a signature. It is important for an artist to have style and to know his work. On the other hand, ideas must be pure and rare. If we were to say the same things over and over again, it would not cure the pain. I have to say; He has also taught cartoon art at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Tehran for some time. Perhaps one of the most valuable things to do is to make cartoons independent of the press. His individual exhibitions of his cartoons are often well received, and people and collectors take his work to their homes and collections. Master Dermbakhsh, has become one of the most famous artistic figures in Iran by winning several prestigious international awards. He has won first prize at the largest and most prestigious international cartoon competitions in Japan, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, Turkey, Brazil, Yugoslavia and several other international awards, and has been a guest judge at several major international cartoon exhibitions. Many of Master Dermbakhsh’s works have made their way to prestigious museums around the world, including; The Museum of Contemporary Art in Tehran, the Basel Cartoon Museum in Switzerland, the Gabrovo Cartoon Museum in Bulgaria, the Hiroshima Museum in Japan, the Yugoslav Anti-War Museum, the Istanbul Stellar Cartoon Museum in Turkey, the Warsaw Cartoon Museum in Poland and the Frankfurt City Hall in Germany.

Compilation of books: No Description, Angels Memoirs, Kambiz’s Book (published in Italy), Today’s Iranian Satanists, Today’s Iranian Satanists Abroad, Miazar Mori, Whose Seed, Laughter Olympics, Symphony of Lines, and If Da Vinci had seen me, It is another activity. In total, he has been working with the renowned Iranian and world press for more than 47 years. He has exhibited more than 32 individual exhibitions at home and abroad, and has participated in 30 domestic and foreign exhibitions. Master Dermbakhsh has been the guest judge of several major international cartoon exhibitions. He also received the Knight’s Order from the French government in November 2014.

He has also entered the field of animation since 2007. He and his son Ramin are active in this field, and the result of this collaboration is the production of several short animated films, including a collection of clowns. In 2016, a 70-minute documentary about the works and life of Kambiz Dermbakhsh, directed by Javad Atashbari, was released.

Almost everyone who deals with the great world of the visual arts knows the Master Dermbakhsh. His record and success in the international arena is such that he has given birth to a very brilliant figure to introduce the Iranian cartoonist to the world.
