The films of competition section of 11th edition of “Duhok” International Film Festival were introduced
The films of competition section of 11th “Duhok” international film festival were introduced in climate of Iraqi Kurdistan, and Iranian directors have a strong presence in this film event with their films, documentaries and short films.
According to Artmag.ir, 11th Duhok International Film Festival commemorates Yılmaz Güney, a famous Kurdish director who won Palme d’Or award at French Cannes International Film Festival (1982), under chairmanship of Amir Ali Mohammad Taher, director of the international film festival. Duhok” and with artistic direction of “Shaukat Amin Korki” made a Kurdish film, with slogan “Sports” and “Sports for all” and with screening of 107 works by Iranian directors and different countries of the world, in form of feature films, short films and documentaries in competitive sections and Non-competitive and with support of Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq, it will be held from December 9 to 16, 2024, in “Congress” hall of Duhok University and “Duhok Mall” cinema complex in city of Dohuk in Kurdistan Region.
Competing to receive 7 main prizes of the festival
Ravand Zaid, planning director of “Kurdish Cinema” department of 11th Duhok International Film Festival, said in press conference of this film event: From June 15, 2024, works will be accepted for participation through Film Portal. We started in 11th period of this festival and finally on September 1, 2024, we received 180 Kurdish films; After evaluation by selection board of festival, 46 films were selected in final stage to participate in competitive and non-competitive sections of “Panorama” to receive awards for best film, best actor, best actress, best screenplay, best director, and “Fipershi” award. » FIPRESCI, International Federation of Film Critics, as well as Dohok Governorship Award compete with each other.
