Veteran film and television actor and director Fathali Oveisi has died this morning at the age of 76 after a long illness.
Niknam Hosseinipour, the director of Veteran Artists Institute, confirmed the news on Tuesday: “According to the follow-up, the hospital announced that unfortunately Fathali Oveisi, a veteran of the country’s cinema, television and theater, died this morning and refused The God invitation.”
The director of Veteran Artists Institute continued: The late Oveisi was hospitalized in Tehran for a week and is in a coma. This morning, after enduring illness, he flew to the eternal land and became heavenly.
Dr. Hashemi, the managing director of Laleh Hospital, stated that the cause of Fathali Oveisi death was a cerebral hemorrhage and explained: “Unfortunately, in the past few days, Mr. Oveisi had suffered a cerebral hemorrhage and as a result, his level of consciousness had decreased.” They were referred to Laleh Hospital emergency department and immediately diagnostic and treatment measures were performed and the patient was taken to the operating room. They underwent surgery on the brain and artificial respiration system, but unfortunately, due to the extent of bleeding inside the brain and the loss of a large part of the brain tissue, no positive results were obtained, and despite the hard work of the medical staff, we lost him on Tuesday morning (October 5).
According to this report, Fathali Oveisi, born on January 11, 1946, is an Iranian actor, director and singer. He graduated in film directing and acting from Texas State University in 1973. He returned to Iran in the same year and began his cinematic career by starring in Alireza Davoudnejad’s film Forbidden in 1978.
After graduating, the late Fathali Oveisi became a member of the Islamic Republic of Iran TV (IRIB), and in the 1980s he acted in many films and directed several films. He turned to directing again in the early 1990s and made his third feature film, Maryam and Methyl, which was a success. But in his fourth film, Sarboland was not so successful. Fathali Oveisi was very active on television in the second half of the 1990s. In cinema, his lasting role in the films Nakhoda Khorshid (Nasser Taghvaei, 1986), Lead (Masoud Kimiaei, 1988), Hey Joe (Manouchehr Asgari Nasab, 1988), Banoo (Dariush Mehrjoui, 1991), Jahan Pahlavan Takhti (Ali Hatami and Behrouz Afkhami, 1997) and Mummy 3 (Mohammad Reza Honarmand, 1999) are remembered.
