The light of 20th celebration of Image of the Year was turned on for media people. With presence of journalists and media people in the field of culture and art, and after explaining the programs of picture of the year in 20th year of event, image of the year exhibition was opened by Seifollah Samadian, the secretary of Image of the Year celebration and Tassvir Sal film festival.
According to Artmag.ir, quoted by Tassvir website, this was first time that opening of Image of the Year took place only with the presence of journalists, and Seifollah Samadian gave them a tour of the exhibition from Momayez gallery in Iranian Artists Forum, explaining works of posters and caricatures, from the generation with Morteza Momayez ,Seyed Mohammad Ehsaei, Noureddin Zarrinkelk and… Bahman Abdi, Ahmed Arabani, Kambiz Derambakhsh and… reached the conclusion, he started with young people whose works were selected by judges in recent years.
In this period of the exhibition, different historical periods, in political, social, sports and art fields of Iran in last two decades, with images from contemporary photographers as well as lasting images from photojournalists on the subject of Tehran, from Islamic revolution and war, number 532 frame has been reviewed in 20-year works review section, and in film section, 140 works that won youth prize under 25 years old and in special section of Tehran, and in mobile photo contest section, among five thousand works, 300 frames printed on the wall and about two hundred works have been selected, It has been displayed as a multimedia.
Seifollah Samadian, in a press conference, after presenting a statistical report of participants and presented works; He pointed to commemorations that will be held in final ceremony of Image of the Year, on the 1th of March of this month. For this purpose, Rakhshan Banietemad, Maryam Zandi, Ebrahim Haghighi and Javad Alizadeh will be honored. These artists will also be judges of mobile photo contest.
Samadian advised the cultural officials and decision makers of Iran to come with your conscience and visit this exhibition, and in response to a journalist’s question about continuing to hold Image of the Year despite the economic and social difficulties, he emphasized: Our generation is different from yours. We come from decades of being thick-skinned and hoping for the roots of culture. What drives us is not all that our hearts want, but talent of a young generation. He added: Without exaggeration, we are among few countries where our youth are proud of all artistic branches in the world, But why is our light off?
In response to another question about sponsors of Image of the Year(Tassvir) celebration, secretary of Image of the Year Festival and the Image Film Festival stated: We do not have any financial sponsors this year, maybe we could have, but we didn’t want to be under religion and except for the spiritual presence of Iranian Artists Forum, we have no any support.
At the same time, he expressed his concern about economic situation of Iranian Artists Forum and stated: A funeral for this cultural complex is supposed to be held in the middle of March, while it is duty of the municipality to support this cultural institution.
The 20th Annual Tassvir Celebration Exhibition is open every day except Saturdays in all departments.
