Nader Davoodi

Biography
His father was an Iranian diplomat living in Afghanistan and he was born in Herat. He has a bachelor’s degree in archeology and art history from the University of Tehran and a master’s degree in communication science from Allameh Tabatabai University. His greatest activity so far has been in field of photojournalism. Davoodi has more than forty years of experience in photography and in the last two decades has held more than 10 solo exhibitions at IRAN and abroad. As a photojournalist, he has eight years of experience working with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) in his professional activities. He is also one of the founders of the Association of Press Photographers in Iran, which photographs independently, and the images he has produced have been used extensively by the mass media on various occasions. From 1992 to 2002, he was the managing director and publisher of Tamashagaran Magazine for 10 years. Currently, his main focus is on documentary filmmaking and work on photography projects. Teaching courses: History of World Photography and Press Photography at Azad University, Membership in the Iranian Documentary Association, Cooperation with the World Bank of Photography and working on projects such as: Contemporary Iranian Theater, Contemporary Iranian Women, Changes in Iranian Youth and making various documentaries on Iranian history and Social issues are another of his backgrounds. His first filmmaking experience was directing a ten-part documentary series on the history of pre-Islamic Iran in 1996. Other documentaries made by him include: Thirteen and a half, Reza Lost in Time, Kandolus, Aref to the power of two and documentaries: Red, White and Green. Currently, making documentaries and research films is one of his most important activities and interests. Nader Davoodi is the editor of Coffee and Shahrzad magazines.

2006 – Making a documentary entitled “Thirteen and a Half” in collaboration with Abbas Ahmadi, which was screened at the Vancouver International Film Festival.
2005 – Activity as one of the first Iranian photographers, who held an exhibition in Toronto Photography Month (Contact 2005).
1999 – Activity as one of the founders of Caricature competitions on the subject of football, the first period of which was held in 1999.
1994 – Activity as the first Iranian sports photographer to cover the FIFA World Cup (USA 1994)
