“Nastaliq Reading” Bootcamp for Designers

A specialized bootcamp, “Nastaliq Reading for Type Designers,” will be held from May 25 to 28 at Bagh Honar Pavilion, with the aim of strengthening the connection between Persian calligraphy and contemporary type design, thanks to the efforts of the Font Club and Tehran Typography Week.
According to Artmag.ir, the specialized bootcamp “Reading Nastaliq for Type Designers, From Pen to Glyph” will be held by Font Club, in collaboration with Bagh Honar Koushak and Tehran Typography Week, from May 25 to 28 at Bagh Honar Pavilion.
This four-day bootcamp aims to deepen type designers’ understanding of the structure and aesthetics of Nastaliq script and seeks to strengthen the connection between the historical knowledge of Persian calligraphy and the needs of today’s type design.
In this program, first-hand and research-based topics will be discussed, and prominent researchers and experts have been invited to teach and discuss with participants.
Atefeh Mohammadi and Majid Shahbodaghi, designers and researchers active in the field of Persian typography, are in charge of managing the boot camp and consider the reason for holding this event to be to provide an opportunity to better understand the graphic and cultural heritage of Persian calligraphy and examine it from the perspective of contemporary design.
Font Club, as a joint program of Bagh Honar Koushak and Tehran Typing Week, was launched with the aim of developing education and exchanging experience in the fields of typography, design, and visual culture, and this boot camp is one of its first specialized programs.
