Biography
From the age of twelve, he began studying music at the National Conservatory of Music, under the tutelage of masters such as Hossein Dehlavi, Mostafa Kamal Pourtorab, Arfa Atraei, Manouchehr Manshizadeh, Mohammad Ismaili, and Hossein Tehrani. Then, in the music department of the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Tehran, he was accompanied by masters such as: Emmanuel Melik Aslanian, Thomas Christine David, Alireza Mashayekhi, Mohammad Taghi Massoudieh, and Mehdi Barkeshli. Roshanvarvan graduated from the National Conservatory of Music in 1967 with a degree in music and entered the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Tehran. In 1972, he received a bachelor’s degree in music with a major in composition. Then he went to the University of Southern California to continue his studies, and in 1979, he received a master’s degree in composing, and in 2001, he received his doctorate in composition from the American University of Hawaii. Since returning to Iran in 1979, he has been teaching at the Music Department of the University of Tehran, and since 1982, he has been a member of the faculty of the Radio and Television Faculty. He also has 33 years of experience in teaching and learning in music conservatories and universities such as Azad University and Tarbiat Modares. Kambiz Roshan Ravan is a member of the faculty of the Radio and Television Faculty, a member of the Supreme Council and the managing director of the House of Music. He has a first-class artistic certificate from the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance.

Master Kambiz Roshan Ravan’s efforts have also had a great impact on traditional music. From the research educational collection that he published for the Center for the Intellectual Development of Children and Adolescents, in which a large number of famous music artists such as: Mohammad Reza Lotfi and Shajarian were also present; Until making pieces for artists such as: Shajarian and Nazeri, etc., as well as composing some other pieces, such as the smoke of Oud Meshkatian, with the voice of Shajarian and the butler with the voice of Shahram Nazeri, are other clear activities. Roshan Ravan was very good at composing the film, and composing the soundtrack for Bloody Rice was one of the first music to be made after the revolution. The soundtrack of the films: Golhaye Davoodi, Safir, composed by: Fariborz Saleh, Amir Kabir series and nearly 10 films, is one of his works and with directors such as: Abbas Kiarostami, Amir Naderi, Rasoul Sadr Ameli, Kiomars Poor Ahmad, Mehdi Fakhimzadeh and others He has collaborated and won the Best Music Award at the Fajr Film Festival for some of these films. Making pieces in symphonic formats and classical music formats is another clear effort of the psyche, including the celestial symphony and the flying symphony.

The release of several orchestral works with melodic atmosphere and significant arrangements for local music, released with the voice of Bijan Bijani, are among the other works he composed. His other efforts include publishing several books on music education in various forms and writing articles and pamphlets in this field.
