Aminollah Rashidi, a veteran Iranian music artist, passed away

Aminollah Rashidi, a music artist and veteran singer, died of old age at age of 99.

According to Artmag.ir, Afshaneh Rashidi, daughterthe of late Rashidi, while confirming news of his death, announced: based on decisions made, body of this precious Iranian music artist is to be donated to University of Medical Sciences for research, therefore, funeral ceremony for him will not be held

Aminollah Rashidi, born on April 24, 1925, was in city of Ravand, Kashan, and he got acquainted with Iranian music by listening to gramophone records and works of singers in 1940s.

He started composing and singing in Iran Radio in 1948 and was continuously active in this field until end of 1965 and composed more than 120 songs during this period.

“Jan Jahan”, “Afsaneh”, “Golafshan”, “The Effect of Love” and “Ashk Sepideh” are among famous works of this artist.

Aminollah Rashidi, one of most prominent singers of Iran’s traditional and folk music, has brought many memorable works to Iranians with his pleasant voice and outstanding artistic abilities.

His ability to combine traditional music and Iranian folklore with his special style of singing has made Rashidi one of the most enduring and popular artists.

The late Rashidi was also one of first Iranian singers familiar with international musical note.

While studying, he learned Iranian carpet painting from masters of that time, Mr. Mohammad Debir Al-Sanaye and Hassan Naghshpour Araki, and in a short time he progressed to stage of design and creation, and while painting, he also learned how to play strings with master Naghshpour. who played string very sweetly, got to know him and moved to Tehran in 1946.

Aminollah Rashidi also had a hand in poetry, writing and criticism, and his articles were published in press,  last of which is a review of book New Poetry, From Beginning to Today, written by Mohammad Hoghoghi, published by  Franklin Institute, published in issue 10 of 2015. Vahid magazine has been published.

A travelogue called from Kashan to Kanari was published by him in 1993.

This music veteran artist published book Atre Giso (Memories and Songs) in 2002 by Atai Publishing House of Tehran, and his third book, Iran in Passage of Time, was published in 2011.
