A tribute to Majid Derakhshani, musician and composer, was held on Friday, 11 September 2026, at Niavaran Cultural Centre.
According to Artmag.ir, Majid Derakhshani, born on 13 September 1957, is one of the prominent, innovative and influential figures in Iranian music.
He was the leader of the Shehnaz Music Ensemble and a collaborator of Mohammad Reza Shajarian. In 2005, Derakhshani founded the Khorshid Ensemble, and in 2012 he established the renowned Mahbanoo Ensemble. He currently lives in Germany.
Forming music ensembles and teaching, collaborating with universities and leading arts institutions, working with maestro Mohammad-Reza Shajarian, teaching music to the younger generation, conducting research, and revisiting and republishing valuable musical works are among his artistic activities.
