Darius Khondji was nominated for main award of The American Society of Cinematographers
The American Society of Cinematographers has announced the list of nominees for 2023, and Darius Khondji is one of the nominees for the main award for the film “Bardo”.
According to Artmag.ir, quoted by Hollywood Reporter, the 37th annual awards of The American Society of Cinematographers have announced their list of nominees, and in the best cinematography of a feature film, Darius Khondji for the movie “Bardo”; Roger Deakins for “Empire of Light”; Greg Fraser for the movie “Batman”, Claudio Miranda for “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Mandy Walker” for filming the movie “Elvis” have also been nominated for the award.
Darius Khondji, the 67-year-old Iranian-French cinematographer, who is currently working with Bong Joon-ho, the director of the film “Angel” in his new film “Mickey 7”, has previously worked for “Seven” films three times. (1995) by David Fincher and “Evita” (1996) by Alman Parker and “The Immigrant” (2015) directed by James Gray have been nominated for The American Society of Cinematographers Award.
He worked with great directors such as “Jean-Pierre Jeunet” (Deli, City of Lost Children, Alien: Resurrection), “Bernardo Bertolucci” (Stolen Beauty), “Danny Boyle” (The Beach), “Sidney Pollack” (Translator), “Woody” Allen” (Midnight in Paris), “Michael Hanke” (Funny Games, Love), and “Safdie brothers” (Uncut Gems) and the film “Bardo: The False Chronicle of a Fistful of Truth” is his first collaboration with Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu is a famous Mexican director.
So far, Khondji has received the Silver Frog and Fipershi awards of Polish Cameraimage Film Festival for the film “Bardo”, and as previously announced, he will also receive the International Special Award of The American Society of Cinematographers.
Among the other nominees of The American Society of Cinematographers in the feature film category this year, the famous British cinematographer Roger Deakins has been nominated for the 17th time this year with the film “Emperor of Light” by Sam Mendes, and “Mandy Walker” for the film Elvis is also the only female cameraman in this section.
In the history of The American Society of Cinematographers, only three women have been nominated in the main category.
The 37th annual awards ceremony of The American Society of Cinematographers will be held on March 5, 2023 at Beverly Hilton.
